Totally agree with this .. on my new box I maxed out the memory (8GiG)
and bought a "less expensive" CPU then 1 year later went to the 
Phenom X4... (the phenoms at the time were having the "stepping issue"(?) ) 
Both processors and boards have been rock-solid.. 

I never saw any issues like Shawn did.. but..
I chased an intermittent complete lock up.. for a while.. 
found the problem.. 

I did not have one stick of memory completely seated..
The memory "clicked into" place.. just like the other slots .. but it
needed just a tad pressure to seat it correctly.. 

Intel makes a great product.. and in my case money wasn't an issue...
but I just "liked" the AMD processors.. as it suited my needs..
and yes.. I would agree with Shawn.. 
AMD is cheaper and more budget friendly.. but IMHO not an inferior product..
