This is fixed in recent versions of Software Center. I verified the fix
in version 5.1.14.1, Ubuntu Precise.

  [GTK3] USC navigates to home screen by itself shortly after launch

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  software-center-gtk3 trunk r2160, Ubuntu Ocelot

  1. Launch USC.
  2. As soon as the window appears, click "Installed" or "History".
  3. Wait five seconds or so.
  4. Click Back.

  What happens:
  2. The "Installed" or "History" screen appears.
  3. USC navigates to the home screen by itself.
  4. USC returns to "Installed" or "History".

  What should happen:
  3. USC should not navigate to the home screen by itself.
