The fix is to edit ~/.config/user_dirs.dirs and put the correct directory in
for downloads.
Marking the bug invalid accordingly.

Title:
Dash showing wrong files in Downloads section
Status in “unity-2d” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
My system (Precise up to date) is showing files from the Desktop
folder under dash Downloads instead of the Downloads folder.
I believe it has got into this state because (for historical reasons)
my downloads folder was called downloads not Downloads. I am guessing
that the fact that there was no Downloads folder confused the dash and
instead of displaying an error or nothing it instead showed the
Desktop folder. This may or may not be by design.
A secondary problem is that having renamed it to Downloads as it
should be, the dash is still showing files from Desktop and I can find
no way to get it to show the correct folder. I have rebooted.
