My apologies for the confusion. My point was that I had this same issue on
12.04 that I have in 11.10.. It was my mistake in stating 11.04.

I'm also running 1 other machine configured through wubi running on top of
windows vista business and it shows the connection just fine. If you refer
to the question number in the original email you can compare the chipsets,
bridge etc to see if there are any differences that stand out. Both
machines are using the same network adapter "Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme
BCM5754 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)"
Let me know if there is any additional information required. I work from
home and can perform any testing desired.

Status in “gnome-nettool” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Under the network applets on the toolbar, I see no entry for a wired
connection and when I click on connection information, it states "no
valid connection found". I can use the "network-tools" application and
see I have eth0 and can view my connection information, but again when
i go to the configure button, nothing shows up under the wired

but I wonder if it is effecting other operations such as when I use
