  Network manager unable to dial Reliance Huawei EC1260 modem

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

  The network manager is detecting the modem but fails to connect.
  However, I am able to connect using gnome-ppp but still network manager says 
I am offline and relays this wrong information to other applications such as 
firefox.
