I gave your bug a specific title. I'm closing it as invalid, too,
because the preference is available. You can just crank up the
sensitivity if you wish; that's built for this case, right? If you
search, you might find the work that went into this of interest. You
give a good description of the 'intent' that was carefully engineered
here. (Not by me -- I just watched it happen.)
If you really remain unsatisfied, I think there are existing discussions
to get involved with. Thanks.

Title:
Launcher not triggered immediately
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
When the Application Launcher is in “hide” mode, doesn't quickly reply
when one touch the left side with the mouse pointer; it is necessary
to move the mouse pointer as if one knock a door. Increasing the
sensitivity for a little more than half, it responds more readily but
it is still necessary touch it with real intent.

Samsung model 300E4A-AD1
Intel Core i5 2450M
Ubuntu 12.04 64bits
Graphic Processor Intel GMA HD
Chipset Intel HM65
