Well, it's most likely a side-effect of a memory leak. I changed the way
the menus got updated again during the release, but we also (again)
fixed a number more of leaks in code. I think this has perhaps been
really fixed now.
There's just one report I had of such issues after running a VPN for a
number of hours. What would be useful would be to also have valgrind
logs; which might help identifying the issue.

I reported the very same bug 2 or 3 releases ago. As you can see from the
attached screenshot, the VPN submenu is empty.
Yet I still can see a VPN connection when editing connections.
