After investigating, I found that the specificity of the file is that it
has a checkbox... So I'm going to open another bug report as this is
obviously another problem...

Title:
LibreOffice cannot read password-protected writer files

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  1) Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)
  Release: 12.04

   2)
  libreoffice-writer:
    Installed: 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1
    Candidate: 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1
    Version table:
   *** 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1 0
          500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

   3) What you expected to happen
Open an existing, password-protected .odt file.
Being able to read the contents of the file.

   4) What happened instead
LibreOffice complains: "Read-Error. Error reading file."
LibreOffice does not open the file for reading.

When using an older release of LibreOffice (running a live Ubuntu
11.04 system from a stick), the file opens just fine.

I was able to open the file until just a few days/weeks ago.
