Thank you for your bug report, ctrl-alt-d is not a "minimize all" it's a

Title:
  Minimize all windows in Unity

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I can press CNTRL-ALT-D to minimize all windows. But when I then
select a running application from the bar on the left all windows are
maximized again. That sort of defeats the purpose of minimize all
  windows.
