Happening to me on 12.04 release as we speak. Installed fresh yesterday
(complete PC wiped). 64 bit. Exactly as described above.

Title:
Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2 not showing copy progress dialog

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Hi all.

I'm booting my USB with Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2 (build 14/April/2012).

I booted to copy several folders from one partition to another (done
right), the problem is that you can't see the copy dialog progress. In
the left bar you see it copying but I tried HARD to make it visible,
including Alt-Tab, right click--> Show progress, Super-TAB, etc. So I
had to wait until finished just looking the progress in the small
  icon.

  Best Regards.
