In comment 5, I also have the Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile D9500
model. The problem is with the hardware because it is replicible on
Widows XP. The Brightness adjustment via the Fn hard keys do not work
correctly and adjustment via the settings only work for the open
session.

  Screen Brightness not saved after rebooting

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  When lightdm starts during boot the screen brightness is dimmed to its
  lowest value. Once logging onto the system and going into to the
  System Settings->Screen dialog and then setting the correct
  brightness, the value is not saved therefore at the next boot you have
  to do the whole process again.
