Title:
[Intrepid i386 Live CD install Final - Smoke Testing] Jockey-gtk
doesn't offer proprietary hardware drivers for Radeon HD 4870
Status in “jockey” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: jockey-gtk
On Intrepid i386 fresh install from iso (gotten from bzr - smoke
testing, 2008.10.23) Jockey-gtk doesn't offer proprietary hardware
drivers for Radeon HD 4870 (while it does on an up-to-date Intrepid
amd64 Beta 1 install.
Note : after manual install of the fglrx drivers and sudo dpkg-
reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg jockey-gtk reports correctly the
availability of the fglrx drivers, and install works normally.
However, disabling the fglrx drivers in jockey-gtk and restarting X
results in a white (completly white) screen, then sudo dpkg-
reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg and it returns to normal. On the other
hand, jockey-gtk doesn't report the availability of the fglrx drivers
anymore (back to home base folks!).
