I did a fresh install of 64bit lubuntu 12.04 LTS (was using 64bit before also), and now the fn + audio keys don't do anything at all, just like in 11.10, even before i use the fn + brightness keys.

I get the small visual feedback window and the audio feedback as well. But if I use the fn + brightness keys to adjust the brightness, then the fn+ audio keys stop working. The brightness keys continue to work. If I kill gnome-settings-daemon and start it again, then the fn + audio keys start working again until I use the brightness keys again.
