Maybe I just got you wrong but my problem was: Step 1: I start a game (Braid as an example), the game is configured to use 640x480px - fullscreen-resolution. Step 2: I exit the game. Step 3: I now have a Unity- or GnomeShell-Desktop with an resolution of 640x480 px. Step 4: I want to change to my native resolution (1024x768px or whatever it was before). At Step 4 a "normal" user fails because he can't access the "Apply"-Button of the Settings-Window. (See posting #1 for Details)
My interpretation of your answer: "There is a User who would like to configure a resolution lower than 640x480px (for example 320x240px). This dosn't make sense." --> I agree with you in this point. "I can't find the number now" --> I've searched launchpad too (before i opened this bugreport). I haven't found anything about this topic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993108 Title: no Apply-Button in gnome-control-center (display) at Resolution 640x480 Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: If your Monitor falls back to a resolution of 640x480 (Due to a crash of a fullscreen-game), you can't use the Display of "gnome-control- center" because the window is taller than 480px. You can't resize the window either. so you have no chance to click the "Apply" button with your mouse. To see it your self, you have to put your Resolution down to 640x480 and try to reset it to a higher Resolution. Work around: press [Alt] + [A] (English) or [Alt] + [W] (German) to apply your settings without clicking the Button. Work around2: hold [Alt] and drag the Window at it's center. You can drag it high enough to actually click "Apply".
