### Confirmed here.

### Cause

Default angle measure is degrees but user does not know.

### Explanation of value obtained

Mathematically,
cos(pi degrees)=cos(pi * pi / 180 radians)=0.99849715
sin (pi degrees)=sin (pi * pi / 180 radians)=0.054803665.
but it is not what the user expects.

### Comparison with other calculators

You can have the same thing on regular calculator like the HP-48 (just
tested). But on that machine, the screen displays the current angle unit
at all times ! Hence, changing bug title.

### How to solve ?

Suggesting to display angle units at all times in advanced mode.

** Summary changed:

- Getting invalid results for sin (pi) and cos (pi ) in advanced mode
+ gcalctool default angle unit not shown, confuses user about sin(pi) and
cos(pi)

Title:
gcalctool default angle unit not shown, confuses user about sin(pi)
  and cos(pi)

Status in “gcalctool” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:

  Description:
When I tried to find the value for sin(pi) and cos(pi), after changing
the conversion into "radians" I got the results as,for cos(pi)=0.99849715 and
for sin (pi)=0.054803665.which is a invalid one,The actual value for cos(pi) is
-1 and for sin (pi) is 0.
