You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I have a laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 (Fresh installation, not upgrade) 64 bits.
My home folder is encrypted.
It worked fine until a couple of days ago since I can't login in.
It boots normally, I enter login and password (does not matter Unity or Unity
2D), press Enter.
At this moment it seems that Ubuntu starts desktop, shows some messages and
immediately goes back to login screen.
I attached the photo of this moment. One of the messages is "could not write
bytes: Broken pipe". Photo is attached.
Mouse is working fine. No freeze on the screen.
I tried previous kernel as well as recovery mode. The system is up to
date, no updates are available.
I can login using CLI (for example, pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1).
I don't know which package affected, but it's critical and it would be
great if you could tell me which information I need to provide.
I am not sure after what it start happening.
Probably, I installed Cisco AnyConnect last time which worked great in all
previous versions of Ubuntu (but I used only 32 bits before). I also installed
VirtualBox.
I can provide a short video of the screen when I am trying to login.
