  Unity prevents Google Earth from running - works under GNOME

Bug description:
  Trying to run Google Earth for Linux in Unity does not work.  Google
  Earth exits straight away.

  If I log in as "Gnome Classic (No Effects)" I can run Google Earth
  with no problems (except its blurry fonts!).
