pn, this is:
- a clearcut upstream issue. You are welcome to send this to the developers of
the software by following the instructions at
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport . If you have done so, please tell
us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that
will inform us about its status.
Resolving as Won't Fix in libreoffice (Ubuntu) and LibreOffice Packaging. This
does not mean the issue will not be cared about, but if it is cared about (even
by Ubuntu/Canonical contributors), it is done upstream at LibreOffice.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

- When saving a spreadsheet as .csv file (for example, for export to some
- statistics software), the "save cell content as shown" checkbox is
- enabled by default.
+ 1) lsb_release -rd
+ Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
+ Release: 12.04

- This is really extremely dangerous, since numerical accuracy will be
- lost when saving in this format (but not when saving in others). It
- happened to me many times, because I forgot to remove that *%&/(!
- checkmark...
+ 2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-calc
+ libreoffice-calc:
+ Installed: 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1
+ Candidate: 1:3.5.3-0ubuntu1
+ Version table:
+ 1:3.5.3-0ubuntu1 0
+ 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386
Packages
+ *** 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1 0
+ 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages
+ 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

- I have seen that there was a discussion in the past about this behavior.
- I still cannot see why it makes that much sense and think the potential
- danger outweighs by far the benefits for some people, but would not like
- to start that discussion again.
+ 3) What is expected to happen in Calc is when one saves a spreadsheet as
+ .csv file, unchecks the "save cell content as shown" checkbox, and saves
+ again, the checkbox remains unchecked.

- However, I think that
-
- a) it should be possible to turn off this behavior globally somewhere.
- All people working in the scientific domain will probably do this
-
- b) at the very least the dialog should remember the last setting, so
- that one does not have to uncheck this box again and again and again
- until one forgets to do it and looses data.
+ 4) What happens instead is the checkbox is checked again.
