Same problem happen to me, with ubuntu 12.04 amd64, Rhythmbox, banshee
both has this problem.

Hi, in Ubuntu 12.04 64bit edition I tried to play some FLAC files from
my USB drive, but Rhythmbox then freezed. Please see screenshot. Those
FLACs are OK.
