Title:
gimp version is not up-to-date as version 2.8 is considered stable
Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Hello,
I realize GIMP 2.8 was only just released, but I'm really really hoping the
repo can be updated to version 2.8, as version 2.6 is about 3 years old now.
I'm using a fresh, three-day-old install of Kubuntu 12.04 here. The install
instructions on the Official GIMP download page for my OS say to "apt-get
install gimp" which, of course, gives v2.6, not v2.8.
I've discussed this on IRC on #gimp, where they told me it was a distro
problem; so I moved on to #kubuntu, and was told I should report it as a bug
... ... but that it would be unlikely to be updated until Ubuntu itself is next
updated. o.0 ?? I sure hope not!!
GIMP 2.8 is a BIG update, and heartily needed. Please oh PLEASE include it in
the standard repos ASAP. It would be of great help to all general users of The
GIMP.
Thanks for your time.
