This bug is fixed on Firefox 11 | status-firefox11: verified | status-firefox12: verified and it should be on "Firefox 11 for developers" page I think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/934887 Title: Firefox user-agent string is too unique Status in The Mozilla Firefox Browser: Fix Released Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: As shown on http://panopticlick.eff.org The useragent string "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2" is too unique and in combination with a fairly unique plugin list this allows browser fingerprint tracking, which is bad for privacy. I would suggest this change: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0 This removes makes the version number less unique. Also the Gecko version could be made a bit more generic.
