I have a Packard Bell dot s f3711 and am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I encountered the same problem but could solve it by adding "reboot=e" to the kernel command line. So do:
- edit file /etc/default/grub as root (sudo gedit /etc/default/grub) - add reboot=e to the entry GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT - save file and exit editor - run update-grub as root (sudo update-grub) - please note the problem won't disappear before the 2nd reboot "reboot=e" tells the kernel to use an EFI function for reboot instead of the default keyboard controller mechanism.
