Let's try this: In thunderbird go to Edit->Preferences->Advanced->General->Config Editor search for these preferences: network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https network.protocol-handler.warn-external.ftp And set them to true by double-clicking on them Now when you click on a link it should ask you what to use for it to be opened(just for the first time, it should remember your pick afterwards). --- Ubuntu Bug Squad volunteer triager http://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad

However, when they are clicked on with the mouse, they do not launch a browser or even open a new tab in an already open browser. I would expect that blue, underlined URLs in the body of a message would open in the browser. $ apt-cache policy thunderbird thunderbird: Installed: 7.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 7.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 7.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/880834/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
