Title:
very slow graphics and distorted menu bar at login in 2d mode

Status in “unity-2d” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
upgraded (dist upgrade using update-manager -d) to 12.04 alpha 2 to
  verify bug#886896 was fixed.

found that the performance of the desktop was extremely slow. the menu
bar was always distorted at log in until a mouse over (see screen
capture). dialogs flashing in and out sometimes creating corruption or
missing elements in dialogs. fade in effects slow (probably due to
  alpha level software).

please include a method if disabling compiz in the settings. low
powered computers like mine are very unusable with it enabled with 2d
  mode.
