panel doesn't hide if rollout happens before animation ends

Bug description:
Steps to reproduce:
1. Move the mouse to push the left side of the screen
2. Wait for the panel to appear completely
3. Move the mouse away to the right
=> after a few seconds, the panel hides: this is OK
4. Move the mouse to push the left side of the screen
2. Wait only for the panel to START the animation that makes it appear
3. Quickly move away the mouse to the right before the panel has completed
its showing animation
=> the panel stays visible forever (until you roll over and out of it
again).
Additionally, clicking anywhere outside the panel won't make it hide.
