Title:
no longer possible to write bug patterns on a release before Natty
Status in “apport” package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Binary package hint: apport
During Natty's development bug patterns were switched from being files
named $package.xml to one xml file containing all the bug patterns.
Additionally, test-local (part of ubuntu-bugpatterns) was changed to
only search bugpatterns.xml. The combination of these two things have
made it very hard for people not using Natty to contribute bug
patterns.
To actually test a bug pattern in Maverick you'd need to create an xml
file for the package (aptdaemon.xml) and modify test-local to use
report.search_bug_patterns('.'). Then to commit it you'd have to copy
your pattern out of aptdaemon.xml and put it bugpatterns.xml.
