After a recent update, Nautilus now behaves properly if I killall nautilus and then restart it, after pugging in the external monitor. If I have Nautilus running and I plug in the monitor, it still behaves as showin the screenshots that I provided.
It's good progress, but I still want to keep the bug alive. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/954092 Title: Nautilus desktop misplaced, when attaching attaching a second monitor Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When attaching a second screen display to my laptop when I get to my office in the morning, Nautilus attempts to span both displays, but the Nautilus desktop only spans one display. I've attached a screenshot showing both the effect, and my display- configuration dialog box. Workaround: killall nautilus Immediately after I attach my secondary desktop, then open a Nautilus window from the "Activities" screen.
