I have verified that this bug no longer occurs in the latest version of
Ubuntu Software Center in 12.04, version 5.2.2.2, therefore I will close
this.

Two test cases now work correctly:

1. With Ubuntu Software Center not running, use Nautilus to select two
different standalone .deb files and select to open them both with Ubuntu
Software Center. In this case, a single instance of Software Center is
launched and the details page for one of the two deb files is shown,
allowing it to be installed.

2. Launch Ubuntu Software Center. Use Nautilus to select a standalone
.deb file and double-click on it. Note that the currently running
instance of Software Center now switches to display the details view for
the standalone deb.

In neither case is a second instance of Ubuntu Software Center ever
launched.

Many thanks!
