Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I upgraded my previous ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 LTS.
and this happened when I tried to install vlc.
and same happens when I check for updates while using update manager.
and installation of vlc failed with this error.

  W:Failed to fetch
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise-security/Release Unable to
find expected entry 'oneiric/binary-i386/Packages' in Release file (Wrong
sources.list entry or malformed file)
  , W:Failed to fetch http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/Release
Unable to find expected entry 'deb-src/binary-i386/Packages' in Release file
(Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)
  , W:Failed to fetch http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/Release
Unable to find expected entry 'deb-src/source/Sources' in Release file (Wrong
sources.list entry or malformed file)
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

and same thing also happened in my previous ubuntu 11.10 .
also software center doesn't show any information about any software as it
used to do in 11.10 , see in the SS it only shows logo of vlc without any
information regarding vlc media player.
