Launcher icons disappearing after 'Unlock from Launcher'

Bug description:
To reproduce:
1) Start an application (eg gedit) from dash.
2) Lock application icon to launcher.
3) Close application (gedit)
4) Start application from newly locked launcher icon.
In normal instances, we should see the instance indicator showing as an arrow
next to the launcher icon, but alas this is not so. This is the first issue.
5) Unlock the application icon from the launcher.
6) Close the application (gedit)
App icon will be removed from launcher.
7) Start application again from dash.
Launcher icon does not appear!!
