When I double click on a sound file (e.g. mp3 or wav) in Nautilus it is
opened and played in Rhythmbox.

Sometimes, after the file is finished, other files that I had opened
"recently" (even if it was days ago and I had already rebooted more than
once in the meantime) are played.

Looking into it, I see that a playlist of recently played files is
automatically created and maintained (it is not the "play queue" though,
it's called music). While I hate that, it would in itself be fine if
when you open a new file it was always put at the END of that playlist.
The problem is that the file is placed at an arbitrary position in the
playlist, so when it is done playing, the playlist goes on with the next
file.
