@ #33 : My usage case is: I have several Ubuntu machines running under VirtualBox on my server. I connect to these VMs using the UltraVNC client remote from my Windows machine. ( I am doing some software development on these Ubuntu machines ) So the xserver runs locally on these Ubuntu systems. All I want is a fast 2D Desktop environment on these Ubuntu systems, I don't wanna spend my CPU time for 3D gimmicks
