I tried it again and couldn't reproduce the same. But I first found this issue in precise only. For me it was more like an issue with stopping lightdm than un-installing it. I triggered it first time as below. Had lightdm installed and it was the default display manager.Boot the machine, login using lightdm.Install gdm (sudo apt-get install gdm) - On the pop-up windoow in terminal, select gdm as defaultStop lightdm (CTRL+ALT+F1 for terminal screen - Login - sudo stop lightdm)Remove lightdm (sudo apt-get remove --purge lightdm)This gave a warning saying lightdm user is still logged in. On next reboot (and login with gdm), I got the pop-up saying system problem detected and reported the below error. But this is not happening at present. After stop lightdm, purge lightdm worked fine for me. Regards,Sreekumar
