Title:
Error when copy/pasting text from SVG
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
There is a bug that stops me from pasting any text that was copied
from an SVG document into LibreOffice Writer. For some reason, it does
not effect Impress/Calc. Also, it only happens in non-windows versions
of LibreOffice.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Copy some text from an SVG document (Like the CCNA Explorer Curriculum)
2) Try to paste it into LibreOffice Writer
3) You get an error message that says: "Requested clipboard format is not
available"
If I do a "Paste Special" from the menu bar and choose "Unformatted
text", it works fine. Also, I can paste the text into gedit/leafpad
and re-copy/re-paste it from gedit/leafpad into LibreOffice Writer.
However, using menus/dialog/leafpad every time I need to paste
something is very annoying and inefficient. I think that it happens
because LibreOffice cannot recognize/transfer the type of formatting
used in SVG documents due to incompatibilities with the file type.
This could probably be fixed by setting the paste function to
automatically use Special Paste if the font/formatting cannot
transfer. This would be a much better way to handle unknown formats
than the current method of showing an error and not pasting it at all.
It would also be much easier to implement than full support for SVG.
