Fun fact: after #41, a colleague printed the file Abschlussarbeit.pdf with Evince 3.2.1 to the same CUPS and hardware printer as above and the logo did not print. The file does, though, print with gtklp and the CUPS lpr program. I'll have to wait for another colleague to return from a business trip so we can try that on another Precise machine.
