Doing some further investigation I realized that this device isn't listed on udev net.rule, as I did have the MAC address info of the "ghost" interface I have added an entry in that config file and they I tried to unload/load the sky2 driver in order to check what would happen. Curiously after doing that I've got the following message in dmesg dmesg [ 5328.995899] sky2: driver version 1.30 [ 5328.996384] sky2 0000:02:00.0: setting latency timer to 64 [ 5328.996445] sky2 0000:02:00.0: unsupported chip type 0xff [ 5328.996484] sky2: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -95 As follows below the detail about the interface which were supposed to be working as eth0: lspci 02:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Marvell Technology Group Ltd.
