Title:
Network Manager re-writing /etc/resolv.conf to blank at each boot

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Statically-assigned IP address in /etc/network/interfaces
/etc/resolv.conf appears to be blanked out at each boot (other than the
"#This file created by NetworkManager" at the top)

Must edit /etc/resolv.conf each boot and put in "nameserver 8.8.8.8"
  to get DNS operational.
