(see http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191889) However, I have no unmanaged network device. I always did all my network managing with NetworkManager. So if NetworkManager indeed forces the state to CONNECTED, that's just wrong. Here's my /etc/network/interfaces: auto lo iface lo inet loopback This is with Kubuntu 10.04, all updates installed.
