Has this been fixed in Ubuntu 12.04? ** Summary changed:
- Both wired and wireless network do not work unless UTP cable was plugged in durring startup + Neither wired nor wireless network works unless (1) UTP cable was plugged in during startup, or (2) wireless was disabled before restart -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/777175 Title: Neither wired nor wireless network works unless (1) UTP cable was plugged in during startup, or (2) wireless was disabled before restart Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Binary package hint: network-manager Ubuntu 11.04, fully updated Atheros Ethernet card and Broadcom BCM 4313 wireless card, on Dell Inspiron N7010 Freshly installed system The problem is that both wireless and wired connection do not work. This is unless either one of two things is done: 1. UTP cable was plugged in before system starts 2. Uncheck enable wireless before restart and then enabling it when everything has loaded again If I plug in UTP cable after system has been fully loaded, nothing will happen and I will not have internet connection, not even wired one. Broadcom STA drivers are enabled and since they work when steps 1. or 2. are taken, probably means that the issue is somewhere in network manager. version of network manager: 0.8.4 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: network-manager 0.8.4~git.20110319t175609.d14809b-0ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Architecture: i386 CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory Date: Wed May 4 16:43:22 2011 IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) IpRoute: 192.168.1.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.111 metric 2 169.254.0.0/16 dev wlan0 scope link metric 1000 default via 192.168.1.1 dev wlan0 proto static Keyfiles: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory NetworkManager.state: [main] NetworkingEnabled=true WirelessEnabled=true WWANEnabled=true ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/777175/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
