Title:
network-manager doesn't display on Xubuntu 10.04
Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: network-manager
note: I un-installed network-manager to get the network running. So
the automated bug collection about this machine may not have useful
info.
To duplicate this bug...
Download the alternate install CD for Xubuntu 10.04 (I've done this twice)
Format & install onto machine. (Four different machines so far)
Look in upper right corner.
There is no network-manager.
Try to run the applet for network-manager from the terminal.
It says network-manager is already running.
Try to add the network-manager to the notification panel.
Try to find the applet in Applications>Accessories>Application Finder.
Give the computer to your mother.
Have her ask why she can't get online or select her network.
Give up and remove network-manager. Install wicd or just configure
/etc/network/interfaces.
