FWIW, netwokmanager for 10.04 still refuses to connect, giving this in the syslog:

I can successfully connect using 'wvdial', and also using NM-0.7.1 on different computer, but on Ubuntu 9.10 with NM it doesn't work, not even with latest trunk build (0.8~rc1-0ubuntu1~nmt1~karmic).
