Over a year later without any further confirmations, I'm marking this as
invalid.
Gnome 2 >>> Gnome 3 and numerous updates to the kernel, I can't think there is
any use in keeping this bug alive.

While using the program normally I decided to join another channel.
Browsing the menus trying to find the appropriate option made the
program crash. This is repeatable.
