wrt auto-activation, would simply looking for an existing nm-applet
authentication prompt being displayed for that connection + credential
set and focusing on that (or notifying) be a simple way to reduce the
number of windows?
and for finding the original, any suggestions on where to look?

Network manager shows too many windows on gnome shell

Bug description:
When connection goes down and network manager cannot reconnect its
start openning passwords windows, after some minutes there is hundreds
of windows opened.
I have this problem with two different computers, both using gnome
shell
(see attachment for a small example with 11 windows )
