This is already available (though not presented in the UI, as it's
advanced enough that it could get confusing to users).

enable PPP debugging messages in NM. This is also documented in the
NetworkManager(8) manpage:

man 8 NetworkManager

  Please provide a means in NM for switching on pppd debug option

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

  1. Checkbox is missing in pptp vpn configuration dialog (and maybe in other 
dialogs)
  2. if checkbox is checked, 'debug' option should be passed to pppd

  I consider this bug is blueprint for lycid....Please make if you thik
  the same.
