Title:
  No systemwide network settings

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

I would like my system to always and automatically connect to a fixed
wireless network, independent if and which user is logged in.

Hence I tried to enable the "System setting" checkbox in System ->
Administration -> Network for the respective network. I was asked for
my root password and everything seemed to have worked.

However, there is still no persistent network. The connection is
established only when I log in, and the "System setting" checkbox is
unchecked when I reenter the dialog.

  I am using Intrepid.
