Hi Pawan, and thank you for your report! I believe that this is not
actually a bug, as I believe that debian packages should always have the
.deb extension. I will close this based on that, but if you feel I am in
error, please feel free to reopen and comment here.

  Invalid

Bug description:
  It is recognised automatically as an installer file and Software
  Center is opened, but it cannot be installed. However, the same files
  install properly if the extension is added.
