Hi Alexander, Thanks for reporting this bug. I can't quite replicate this on my Quantal 64 bit box; neither Midori or GtkLauncher will open those sites, but neither seg; midori seems to hang (there is a libsoup-CRITICAL assertion, and GtkLauncher just doesn't seem to do anything) - actually they seem to do that on non-https as well.
So can I ask you: 1) Does this still happen on a more recent Ubuntu? for you, on your system. 2) Instead of attaching the core, can you please use ubuntu-bug to do it, it should generate a backtrace and attach maps and all that stuff automagically. I think apport-cli -u 917427 should do it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to webkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/917427 Title: webkit browsers crash when accessing certain SSL sites Status in “webkit” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have tried to load https://duckduckgo.com/ (the default search engine in Midori) with Midori, uzbl, and finally GtkLauncher from /usr/lib/webkitgtk-1.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher, and all three crashed with similar symptoms. (The same happens, incidentally, when trying to access https://bugs.launchpad.net/ with one of these browsers, while https://google.com/ seems to work.) GtkLauncher terminates with the following message: $ /usr/lib/webkitgtk-1.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher GtkLauncher: /build/buildd/cairo-1.10.2/src/cairo-surface.c:1287: cairo_surface_set_device_offset: Assertion `status == CAIRO_STATUS_SUCCESS' failed.
