  special characters are '?' in IRC through Empathy

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

  Binary package hint: empathy

  hi,
  when I am tchating on IRC,through Empathy, specials characters, like 
ù,à,é…etc., are '?'
  Edit: I tried in Maverick(10.10) and in Natty(11.04). Bug is the same in both.
