xmag doesn’t work when launched from Unity’s Alt+F2

Bug description:
Binary package hint: unity
In Unity, if you press Alt+F2 and run xmag, the xmag app just flashes
forever at the pointer’s initial location. It can’t be closed except
by kill(1). xmag works as normal when launched from a terminal.
