Although the problem was reported under bug #840082 and resolved via a 0.9.0-ubuntu3, it creeps back into 12.04 Alpha. The system is able to detect the dongle, it reports logging into home network However, trying to establish internet connection will result in failed connection. Work around ========== * this was accidentally found while trying to study the problem. 1. Find the pid of NetworkManager (ps -aef | grep -i networkmanager) 2. kill -9 <PID>; NetworkManager --no-daemon 3. try to connect to internet, for my case it works. No guarantee though. Next Step ======== will be doing a complete upgrade of all packages (apt-get upgrade -y) and test it again.
